Dear Friends,

Christa House could not continue to offer the warmth and love of a real "home" unless there were many, many people who cared about those in need.

New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli with resident Carol.
Our friends are our neighbors here on Long Island; scout troops and local merchants; neighboring houses of worship; public and private schools, colleges and university groups. We receive donations from across the country in response to our direct mail appeals. Our annual fund raising events each draw approximately 600-700 people. The Christa House Challenge to Care Walk-a-thon in the Fall grows bigger and bigger each year. All these resonate deep within the hearts of our friends who care about the last, the lowest and the least in our society. And they respond with extraordinary enthusiasm and generosity.

We promise you, our supporters, our everlasting gratitude and a daily remembrance in the prayer and good work of this community. In turn, and in your names, we promise the dying poor that they will always be surrounded by love and compassion in Christa House, that we will never give up on addressing their suffering of body, mind or spirit and that we will never abandon them in their hour of greatest need.

I remember asking a colleague one day what he thought it was that makes Christa House different from other places where the poor and the sick receive attention. He responded simply, "Every day we are invited to love." Your support gives us the opportunity to do just that for the dying poor.

Gratefully,
