About Jerry Hartman

July 16, 1952 - August 20, 1995

Jerry Hartman was born in Richmond Hill, NY, and entered the world of business after graduation from Adelphi University, NY. Jerry worked at various agencies before joining MCA as Vice-president of Marketing in 1981. He contributed to the development of the videocassette and home entertainment divisions of MCA and was appointed Senior Vice-president in 1993.

To his family and friends, Jerry exhibited an extraordinary generosity and an optimistic spirit as well as an artistic mind. He relished friendships and the finer things of life. He combined an analytical mind with a compassionate heart.

In the later years of his life, Jerry supported his partner, Gordie, during his struggle with AIDS. After Gordie's death, Jerry's biggest challenge became dealing with his own diminishing well-being. He chose to forge ahead, creating new goals and new friendships while closely following current medical advancements. While he finally succumbed to AIDS in the summer of 1995,
Jerry's spirit and his legacy live on.

Jerry left behind his loving parents, Sheila and Herman Hartman of East Williston, NY, his sisters Sheila Mohrman and Joanne Peluso of New York and Eileen Zraick of Laguna Beach, CA, his brothers John of Atlanta, GA and Father Tom of New York. He is also survived by many friends and by others in the Hartman, Mohrman, Peluso and Zraick families.
