About Jerry Hartman
July 16, 1952 - August 20, 1995
Jerry Hartman was born in Richmond Hill,
NY, and entered the world of business after graduation from
Adelphi University, NY. Jerry worked at various agencies before
joining MCA as Vice-president of Marketing in 1981. He contributed
to the development of the videocassette and home entertainment
divisions of MCA and was appointed Senior Vice-president in
1993.
To his family and friends, Jerry
exhibited an extraordinary generosity and an optimistic spirit
as well as an artistic mind. He relished friendships and the
finer things of life. He combined an analytical mind with a
compassionate heart.
In the later years of his life,
Jerry supported his partner, Gordie, during his struggle with
AIDS. After Gordie's death, Jerry's biggest challenge became
dealing with his own diminishing well-being. He chose to forge
ahead, creating new goals and new friendships while closely
following current medical advancements. While he finally succumbed
to AIDS in the summer of 1995,
Jerry's spirit and his legacy live on.
Jerry left behind his loving parents, Sheila and Herman Hartman
of East Williston, NY, his sisters Sheila Mohrman and Joanne
Peluso of New York and Eileen Zraick of Laguna Beach, CA, his
brothers John of Atlanta, GA and Father Tom of New York. He
is also survived by many friends and by others in the Hartman,
Mohrman, Peluso and Zraick families.
